MAINTAIN YOUR GARDEN WITH THESE ESSENTIAL TOOLS

For many people, yard work means pruning a tree or two, mowing the grass, and raking leaves in the fall. For some, however, yard work is so much more.

Gardening, whether you grow flowers or food, is a relaxing and giving pastime for many people. It requires a fair amount of work and care, but the return is worth the effort. If you’re new to gardening and are wondering about the proper way to maintain your newly sowed patch of Earth, the list below will help you get some of the tools you’ll need.

1. GARDEN VACUUM

While most people have heard of an indoor vacuum, not many people know that there’s an outdoor version called the garden vacuum. A garden vacuum enables you to quickly remove dead leaves and other organic matter from your garden. It also comes in handy for removing dried grass clippings from your lawnmower and cleaning out your gutters, too.

You have many options when it comes to purchasing a garden vacuum, so do your research first to find one that fits your needs and your budget.

2. DIGGING SHOVEL

Digging is a requirement in any garden. You’ll need to dig holes for new plants on the regular, so it pays to invest in a good digging shovel.

There are many kinds of shovels on the market, but a digging shovel has an angled head that enables you to dig deep into the soil. Try not to skimp on this purchase as buying a cheap shovel could break easily causing you to have to buy a second one.

3. WHEELBARROW

You’ll have many tasks as a gardener, so you’ll need a wheelbarrow to help you accomplish them all with ease. A wheelbarrow can accommodate a wide range of items from shrubs to bricks, so it’ll come in handy no matter what you need to haul around your property.

4. HAND PRUNERS

Regardless of the type of garden you have, you’ll need to keep it pruned and neat. Plants left to grow out of control can be dangerous and unsightly. Hand pruners enable you to clip branches and leaves where they need it without disturbing the rest of the plant. The nice thing about hand pruners is they are strong enough to tackle larger plants while being gentle enough to trim smaller, delicate plants, too.

5. RAKE

Having a garden means you’ll need to keep that area free of organic debris such as leaves, grass clippings, etc. Having a sturdy rake for the task is smart since you’ll need it often, especially as autumn draws near and the leaves begin to fall from the trees. Again, don’t skimp on this tool as a cheap one can break easily.

A garden provides many benefits, but only if you take the time and make the effort to maintain it properly. A poorly maintained garden can adversely affect your home’s curb appeal, and it can impact its value, too. To maintain your garden properly, make sure you invest in the tools listed above.
